Software built for community toy libraries

Run your toy library
without the spreadsheets.

Members, toys, checkouts, scholarships, and reminders — one platform instead of Google Sheets, Square, Wix, and a stack of sticky notes. Built for the volunteers and small staff who keep community toy libraries running.

Everything a toy library actually needs

No more taping together five different tools that weren't built for lending toys. One platform, designed for the way community toy libraries actually work.

Member directory

Family memberships, scholarships, household notes, and waivers in one place. Welcome new families in under a minute.

Toy catalog

Catalog every toy with photos, age range, pieces, and condition. Find what a family is asking about without rifling through bins.

Barcodes and labels

Print durable barcode labels and check items in or out by scanning with any phone or USB scanner — no special hardware required.

Checkouts and returns

Track who has what, what's overdue, and what came back damaged. Automated reminders nudge families before things slip.

Multi-branch ready

Run a single library or a network of pop-ups and storefronts. Each branch keeps its own catalog, hours, and volunteer roster.

Email that just works

Welcome emails, reminders, scholarship confirmations — all sent through deliverable transactional email so they actually land.

AI-managed pages (coming)

Tell us what's new and a chat-driven assistant updates your public site — no WordPress, no Squarespace, no broken plugins.

Built for volunteers

Operators run toy libraries, not IT departments. Every screen is designed to be picked up by a new volunteer on day one.

From your first toy to your hundredth member

Three steps to get your library off spreadsheets and running.

01

Import your library

Bring over your members and toys from spreadsheets, Square, or whatever patchwork you're using today. We help with the messy parts.

02

Print labels, start checking out

Print barcode labels for your toys and hand out member cards. From there, every checkout and return is one scan.

03

Let the platform handle the rest

Reminders go out automatically. Renewals, scholarships, and reports stop being someone's evening side project.

Questions toy library operators ask us

Minnesota Toy Library is software built for the way community toy libraries actually run. It tracks your members, your toy catalog, every checkout and return, scholarships, multi-branch locations, and the email reminders that keep families from forgetting due dates. It replaces the patchwork of Google Sheets, Square, and Wix that most small toy libraries glue together.

No. The Minnesota Toy Library is our pilot site — the platform is being built as multi-tenant software so any community toy library can run on it. If you operate a toy library and want to use it, get in touch and we'll get you set up.

A browser. Members and staff sign in by magic link or OAuth (Google, etc.), so there are no passwords to manage. Barcode scanning works with any USB scanner, a phone camera, or the cheap Bluetooth scanners on Amazon — no proprietary hardware.

Yes. Most pilot libraries come in with a member list and a toy inventory in Google Sheets or Square. We have an import flow that maps the common shapes, and we'll help by hand for the rest.

Transactional email runs through AWS SES, so welcome notes, login links, due-date reminders, and scholarship confirmations all land in the inbox instead of the spam folder. You can customize the templates with your library's name and branding.

Yes. Scholarships are first-class — flag a household as a scholarship member and the dues workflow, reminders, and reporting all respect that. We built this for libraries that take equity seriously.

A near-term feature, not available yet. The idea: instead of fighting WordPress or paying for a Wix site, you tell a chat assistant what's new at your library — new hours, a fundraiser, a story — and it updates your public marketing page. It's coming; the rest of the platform doesn't depend on it.

Yes. Members, toys, checkouts, and notes can all be exported to CSV. You own your data. If you ever want to leave, you can take it with you.
